September 2018 update.

      Dear Friends,

Thank you for your love and support for our family and the ministry in Brazil. The following is our September update. God bless!

Conference Center
As you can see in our retreat schedule we are starting our busy season for retreats. Starting this weekend we will have 9 weekends in a row with retreats taking us to the middle of December. It is exciting to be able to serve so many of the churches around our area! Please keep all these retreats in your prayers.

Growing up on Campus.

 Bible School
The student only have one month of class left for this year. When classes end they will be taking a missions trip to Calvary Chapel Rio. There the students will have the opportunity to serve the street kids in the City of God, as well as serving the church practically as the church moves buildings. We are praying that the students finish the school year well, and that they will be used by God to bless the church and the people of Rio de Janeiro!

Calvary Brazil
Our students with Pastor Bill
Through the bible school we have had the blessing of having many Calvary Brasil  pastors here with us frequently to teach at the school. This past month we have had Pastor Bill from Belem, Pastor Lelo from Rio Preto, Pastor Kalvin from Londrina, and Pastor Celso from Sao Vicente. It is a great blessing to receive from these guys, and to be able to encourage them and grow closer in our relationships. The Calvary Chapel churches are very spread out in Brazil, so bringing the pastors here to the school allows them to have a time away to be refreshed and encouraged and also to bless our students.

Family
The family is doing good! The kids are growing and maturing daily. Bella (3) and Melody (5) are at a really fun stage and keep us all laughing most of the day. Doug (7), Ezekiel (9), and Jeremiah (10) are rough house, tough and tumble boys who love to go on "adventures" on the property every day. They give us lots of laughs, gray hairs, and keep our dirty laundry pile high! Our older girls Lilly (10), Grace (11), and Hope (12) are becoming little ladies. The girls love their dance class that they attend twice a week at Caminho Melhor (Better Way). Josiah (14) is so smart and loves books and learning. He has already read all the english books that we have in our home and had to move on to some of Nathan's bible commentaries.

"Caminho Melhor" Dance Class
Nathan and I will be taking a quick trip to Florida next week. While in Florida we will be attending a missions conference, and also picking up our kids school books for the year. Please be praying for this trip. This is the first time Nathan and I have ever traveled alone so it is a big deal! Please be praying for safe travels, and for the kids to be safe and have a fun week with our friends who will be looking after them.

Catching up with the Cates 2018.

Wow! Times flies! Just in case you have not been keeping up with us on other forms of social media we wanted to take a minute to let you know some of what the Lord has been doing in both our family and ministry here in Brazil.

Move - In 2015 We felt the Lord calling us to move from the island of Floripa to Campo Mourao Brazil. Leaving our friends that had become family was by far one the most difficult things we have ever had to do. We cried many tears when we said our goodbyes but we knew that the decision to move was from the Lord.

Bible School - Since moving to Campo we have started and poured our hearts into a bible school called "Life and Truth Bible School" or "Escola da Biblia Vida e Verdade" . Our desire is that as the students are taught the Word of God verse by verse chapter by chapter they will grow in their knowledge of the Word and their love for Jesus. We have seen our students grow in mighty ways and many of them have been sent out into full time ministry. We pray that like arrows our students will fly farther than we could ever go and really reach all of Brazil for Jesus.

Conference Center - For the past couple of years Nate has been managing and directing operations of the Calvary Chapel Brazil Conference Center. At the Conference Center we receive many different churches from around Brazil and provide them with a place of rest and refreshment. Our goal is that after the churches spend time at the Conference Center they will be able to return to their cities ready to do all the work the Lord has set before them.

Family - Our family has experienced some major highest of highs and lowest of lows over the past three and a half years. The Lord has been faithful to carry us through all the difficult times and we are growing in Him daily. The kids are getting big fast! Josiah is now 14 (gulp!), Hope is 12, Grace is 11, the twins (Lilliana and Jeremiah) are now 10, Ezekiel is 9, Isaiah is 7, Melody Joy is 5 and our newest sweet little Bella Victoria (Beautiful Victory) is 3 years old.
The kids have loved living on campus for the past three and a half years. The students and staff have become like family and we spend most of our meals and days together. Our kids also enjoy the country lifestyle that our move has blessed us with. We sometimes hear little complaints of missing the island life that we lived for so long but overall they really do love playing in the red clay dirt of Parana.

Thank you for taking the time to remember and pray for us! We love you friends!
